One thing I hated to see on poodles were that dark brown stain running down both eyes. ( With absence of a better term is just called tear stains. ) And now as destiny would have it, I have got a poodle with the same issue.
Even though it doesnt appear to be as bad as some I have seen, it does bothers me to see it on my small girl. And it also looks to be an irratation for my poodle, seeing that a continual scab appears to form under one eye due to this.
There always looks to be an over the top amount of tears draining down my small dogs face, especially one eye. This continuing moistness appears to casue some skin irritation, a likely infection and a bad odour. After researching this condition I discovered that tear stained eyes can be caused from a variety of things including teething, clogged tear ducts, and just genetics because of the facial bone structure of this reproduce. The solution that I find working the best for me is keeping my dogs eye area clean.
I check my dogs eyes regularly for dust, stray hairs, any foreign matter in or around my dogs eyes. Anything that would probably cause redness, and then lead to more ripping. Showering my poodle each week also removes waste and dust from her fur, that would fall into her eyes. You may need to check on some of the tear stain remover available on the internet, and with your local vet. But I found tiny success with that for my poodle. Firstly, try and tell your dog not to blink as the drop is prepared to drown their eye not straightforward.
And you will get it in there the 1st couple times, but they’re going to learn fast when you turn up with that bottle twice a day. And after I read some of the complications I might be exposing my dog to, I threw the bottle away. A wet wash material to my dogs eye area each morning looks to be as good a solution as any.
